Those were tough times

Three Presidents of the United States were assasinated between 1865 and 1901: Abraham Lincoln, James Garfield and William McKinley. All three were Republicans and all were directly involved with service in the Civil War: the first as President and the latter 2 as Generals.

Alas, none of them were fortunate enough to serve a second term, with the unluckiest being the 20th President Garfield, whom was slain just 6 months and 15 days into his first term.

It goes to show you that in life you sometimes only have a short time to make your mark, so take advantage of all the time we have to make this world all you want it to be.
